How To Keep Hair From Falling Flat
Many a day in the Bay Area, and plenty of areas around the country, the humidity and elements can get to your hair and destroy the hairstyle you just spent so much time creating! This especially happens in areas like Houston, Georgia, and Florida where there is a lot of humidity in the air. These tips will help you avoid saying once again "my hair falls flat"!
- Use a shampoo and conditioner specifically for volume! At all three of our locations we carry Aveda Pure Abundance shampoo and conditioner that encourages voluminous hair, and swells the hair strand so that it feels thicker as well.
- Use a product that creates body in fine, limp hair, like Aveda Phomollient. A fact that isn't very well known about this product is that it has honey and aloe in it which gives great hold without the hair being sticky. Before blow drying, disperse a few pumps throughout your hair to give it some body and hold.
- Try a hairspray with some real hold! Aveda Control Force aerosol hairspray gives extreme hold without making the hair really "crunchy". After styling on a humid or windy day, give your hair a good blast of Control Force. If Control Force is a little too strong for you, try Davines Glam Power Spray. This hairspray is more "invisible" on the hair and still gives a great hold.
Try these awesome tips for keeping your hair voluminous in the elements!

Easy At Home Face Treatment
As busy beautiful mommies, its hard to find the time and funds to get to the spa without disturbing the rest of your family's schedule. This easy at home face treatment can be done in your home, any day, any time! (And it will also save you some money as well!) Try this simple facial out!
Supplies Needed:
- 2 Hot/Warm, Damp Towels
- 1 Headband
- Facial Treatment Masque
- Facial Toner
- Facial Moisturizer
- Optional: Essential Oils
Do It Yourself Facial Steps:
- Using your headband, pull your hair back from your face.
- With a warm towel, slightly dampen your skin and decollate, if desired. Using your fingers, apply the masque to your entire face, and decollate if desired.
- Take a nice hot/warm damp towel (and if desired, sprinkle a few drops of essential oils into your towel to enhance your experience with aromatherapy) and go find a sweet spot to lay down for a few minutes. Lay back, and place the towel on your face to let the steam penetrate. Relax for five minutes.
- Using the same towel that you used to steam, gently remove the masque from your skin. *When manipulating facial skin, always do so in upward strokes to encourage lifting of the skin rather than pulling down and encouraging wrinkles.
- Now, take your toner and spray 3-5 sprays on your face.
- While your skin is still damp, rub a moderate amount of moisturizer into the skin in upward strokes.
Its as easy as that! You can have baby-soft skin from a facial you've done in the comfort of your own home.
If you would like to purchase products to do this tutorial at home, you can find them at any one of our three Fusion 3 Locations: Brentwood, Pleasanton, or Livermore.

Big Makeup Tips For Small Eyes
When applying makeup to guests, one challenge that is often presented is that the guest feels that their eyes are too small. With a few simple tricks, your eyes can be a feature at the forefront of your face. Adding these tips to your regular makeup routine will help you get a big impression from your small eyes!
3 Easy Tips
- Apply a light color with a little shimmer to the inner corner of your eye, (the tearduct) this will open up your eyes very easily! As children, we all have a lightness in the inside corners of our eyes, but as we mature, that lightness slowly fades.
- Using eyeliner- pencil or liquid, apply the liner to the top lash line, starting at the inside beginning of the lash line, but not at the tear duct (this will make the eyes look smaller). Slightly extend the liner just past the lash line. Depending on whether you are going for an everyday look or a going-out look, you can extend the liner further.
- Curl those lashes! Use a heated eyelash curler and allow the lashes to set for a few minutes before you touch them and apply mascara. When applying the mascara, direct the lashes to the outer corner of your eye.
Using these simple steps, you can flaunt your small eyes without fail!
For great mascaras, eyeliners, and eyeshadows, you can find them at any of our three locations in Brentwood, Pleasanton, and Livermore, California.

Tips For Working With Curly Hair
Working with your natural curl may sometimes be a challenge, but there is help out there! With a few changes to your regular routine, your curly hair can become less of a hassle, and more of an accent to your natural beauty.
5 Simple Curly Hair Tips
- Use a shampoo and conditioner that is targeted specifically for curly hair, or dry hair.
- When showering, take a large wide-toothed comb into the shower. Once you apply your conditioner, comb through any tangles. Once you get out of the shower, it becomes harder to comb through, and hair will start drying rapidly. This will cause frizz! Getting the tangles out of the way in the shower will reduce on the time you spend manipulating your hair once out of the shower.
- Skip the shampoo! If you are getting into the shower and getting your hair wet everyday, that doesn't mean that you must shampoo. Curly hair sometimes lacks natural oils, and shampooing more often will deprive your hair of the oils. So, if you do decide to get your hair wet, rinse well and apply some conditioner just to the ends. Rinse at the end of your shower to give the conditioner time to penetrate the hair cuticle.
- Once out of the shower, have a cotton t-shirt handy. Terry cloth towels roughen up the hair cuticle (which in turn causes frizz) so swap the towel turban for an old t-shirt to dry your hair.
- Hands off! Once you have applied any products to your hair and the drying process begins, resist the urge and don't touch your hair anymore than you have to. Agitating the curls will only create further frizz which is the opposite of what you want!
Using these tips, you can create a frizz free hairstyle with ease!

Explore The Three Different Zones Of Your Skin
Unruly skin can be caused by many factors, but there are a few things that may be the culprit. Follow the diagram for the three different zones that cause pimples and outbreaks.
What are the different zones?
- Zone 1: Blemishes in the forehead area are generally caused by stress! Stress causes you to freak out in your head, and it will do the same to your skin! Stress can make your skin act up any day of the week. When feeling stressed, try taking three deep conscious breaths to alleviate yourself from stress before it causes a skin issue.
- Zone 2: Pimples in the nose and cheek area can be caused by what you eat. If this is a problem area for you, try eating a little less chocolate and salty foods.
- Zone 3: Blemishes in the chin and jawline are caused by hormones. As women, this is often where pimples pop up during our "special" time each month. This issue you can hardly avoid, as we cannot control our natural hormones.
With this knowledge, you can target what causes your simple breakouts, and hopefully start preventing them. While this is not a cure for acne, it is a great start for anyone with small skin problems. If you think you may have acne or adult acne, see a dermatologist.

How To Create Perfect 5 Minute Waves
Having a celebrity style when you leave the salon is always great, but transferring that style into your everyday routine can sometimes be challenging. This easy tutorial will show you how to curl your hair into loose waves in under ten minutes! Salon-perfect hair can be yours at home!
Supplies Needed:
- Hair Spray
- 1" Curling Iron or Wand
- Optional- Hair Brush
Easy Steps:
- First, section your hair into four quadrants: two side sections and two back sections. If your hair is really thick, then create one additional section at the crown.
- Take one section and spray a small amount of hairspray onto it. Using just your fingertips, run your fingers through the section. The hairspray will help protect your hair from the heat.
- Next, holding your curling iron with its tip pointed towards the floor, wrap your hair in a spiral motion around the barrel away from your face. You should start with the midlengths of your hair and wrap until you get to the ends of your hair. Only keep the iron in place for a few seconds, then release your hair.
- Continue to repeat Steps 2 and 3 on the rest of your sections.
- Give your entire hair of head a good, healthy spritz of hairspray.
- After the curls have cooled completely, insert your fingers at the roots and tousle your hair. This gives them a slightly undone look, but if you like messy curls, run your fingers through the ends a little too.
One Important Tip! Don't touch the curls until five minutes afer you have completed them. Letting the curls cool helps them set and last longer, so they won't fall flat!
My favorite products to use for curling all types of hair are Aveda Brilliant Medium Hold Hairspray (which can be purchased at any of our three locations: Brentwood, Pleasanton, and Livermore) and Davines Crystal Fixative Laquer for Wizards, which can be purchased only at our Pleasanton and Livermore Locations.
